The Baron's Betrothal: An On-Again, Off-Again, On-Again Regency Romance (Horsemen of the Apocalypse #2)
Miranda Davis
Timeless - Alexandra Monir I have found that it takes a really amazing writer to to justice to the "time travel"genre, there is just a certain finesse needed to do it right. Which is why when done well it is one of my favourite genres but when it isn't, it really falls flat. This book just came across as juvenile. I realise it is for a young adult audience but somehow I feel the adult was lost along the way. The characters are severely under developed and unrealistic. The fact that not one of them seems anything but mildly surprised that Michele is jumping through time or is invisible seems a little strange to me.These one dimensional character are extremely hard to connect with on any level. I will admit the the author did do some good work describing the roaring 20's and the music throughout, but I wish she had put as much passion into the love story. I have eaten dry toast that was less bland! There is no evidence of any real connection between the two main characters. All their dialogue and encounters seem stilted and uncomfortable and as far as I can tell the only thing Philip had going for him was his looks. Honestly If I were Michele I wouldn't bother travelling down the road to save such a stale relationship let alone through time. And please don't even get me started on the patched together ending!
